Handel Trio Sonata in G minor, Op 5
The 5th trio sonata in the group of 7 for 2 violins and continuo that comprise Opus 5.

Hayes Ode to Echo
The sixth of William Hayes's 'Six Cantatas' of 1748, this recounts the Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus and includes a movement in imitation of the Grecian lyre.

Arne Trio Sonata in A major (1st mvt)
Composed between 1739 and 1740 and written for 2 violins and continuo.

Hayes A winter scene at Ross in Herefordshire
Hayes trained at Gloucester Cathedral and spent the early part of his working life as organist of St Mary’s, Shrewsbury (1729) and Worcester Cathedral (1731). The majority of his career was spent at Oxford where he was appointed organist of Magdalen College in 1734.

Hayes Concerto Grosso in D, Mvt 5
One of 6 concerti grossi written by Hayes in an Handelian style in 6 movements; a truly delightful piece which has solos for a pair of flutes, a pair of violins, a viola and a pair of celli.

Arne Morning Cantata
Born in 1710 and best known for his patriotic 'Rule Britannia' the Morning Cantata was written in 1755 as part of 'Six Cantatas for a voice and instruments'. Issued by John Walsh in London, this was the only print of orchestrally accompanied vocal music by a native English composer to appear in the eighteenth century. Arne's cantatas are among the most precious of the era's neglected musical jewels; the recitative "The glitt'ring Sun" that opens this cantata is a good starting point for getting a grip on Arne's inspired and truly great vocal music.
