About Walk: Down Ampney Round
The second of Gloucester festival chair Allen Prior’s public fundraising walks forming part of the challenge he has set himself to walk 150 miles for RVW150 to raise money in support of plans to celebrate the anniversary at the 2023 festival. Read a message from Allen about his walking challenge here.
This walk of approximately ten miles will depart from Vaughan Williams’ birthplace, the picturesque Down Ampney, beginning at All Saints, the parish church, with renditions of some of the composer’s best known hymns. There will be a break for lunch at Mary’s, Driffield, before the circular walk returns to Down Ampney.
Walkers are requested to dress appropriately for the time of year and a mixture of footpath and bridleway walking. Please bring your own packed lunch.
Anyone interested in joining Allen in his fundraising efforts and 150-mile challenge should email for further information and to request a sponsorship form.
