Programme

Poulenc Sextet for piano and winds
Mozart Quintet for piano and winds

Six of the most talented members of the Amadeus Orchestra come together to perform two of the most sublime works in the chamber repertoire.

The Mozart was premiered at the Imperial and Royal National Court Theater in Vienna. Shortly after the premiere, Mozart wrote to his father that "I myself consider it to be the best thing I have written in my life." Francis Poulenc was the most prolific member of the group of 20th-century French composers known as Les Six. The Amadeus orchestra was founded in 1990 by Wotton based conductor Philip Mackenzie as a training ground for young professionals and music students. Now in its 35th year it is still going strong with over 300 concerts under its belt as well as six tours of China and two in India.
