Schubert Winterreise

Music and poetry combine to stunning effect in Schubert’s haunting Winterreise, a setting of twenty-four songs charting a traveller’s journey through an icy and foreboding winter landscape following his rejection by the person he loves. One of classical music’s greatest song cycles, Schubert’s devastatingly beautiful music brings the poetry to life and turns summer into winter in this vivid and emotional recital by superb tenor Mark Padmore. Maybe not the most obvious choice for a summer music festival, but we simply couldn't pass on giving our audience the chance to hear Mark's celebrated interpretation.
