About MV | Spring Concert - Fauré Requiem

Musica Vera present their Spring concert featuring the serene Requiem of Gabriel Fauré, an undisputed classic work of sacred choral music. Rather than the dramatic depictions of the day of judgement in the requiems of Mozart and Verdi, Fauré's setting is one of tranquil repose for the departed. We are delighted to be joined by soloists, soprano Emma Downton to sing the Pie Jesu and baritone Lucas Maunder to sing the Hostias and Libera Me.

To complement the Fauré, the first half of the concert includes music on the theme of dusk and twilight, with music by Bach, Parry, Saint-Saëns and Alexander L'Estrange. The concert will also feature the first performance of a brand-new commission for the choir's 60th anniversary by their Musical Director, Matthew Clark - a setting of a short poem, Dusk, by one of the Dymock poets, John Drinkwater.
