About WCS | Bristol Ensemble - Anton Bruckner

Bruckner comes to Wotton-Under-Edge
For the Wotton Concert Series Spring Concert in St Mary's on March 28th, we welcome back the Bristol Ensemble for a performance of Anton Bruckner’s epic 7th Symphony, recently arranged for Chamber Orchestra by Luís Carvalho.
We also delight in the return of actor Douggie McMeekin, who will be adding a descriptive element to this exciting programme.
A renowned organist throughout his life, Bruckner even visited London where he performed on the famous Willis organ at the Royal Albert Hall. It therefore seems appropriate to open the concert with Bruckner’s Postlude in D Minor WAB 126 played by Jed Hughes, organist at St Mary’s, and virtuoso exponent of the St Mary’s famous ‘’Handel organ’.
This is a concert not to be missed - a rare opportunity to experience one of the great symphonic masterpieces within an intimate and illuminating setting.
