Tribute to Richard Lloyd

The whole Three Choirs Festival team was very sorry to hear the sad news of the death on 24th April of Richard Lloyd, organist of Hereford Cathedral from 1966-74. Richard conducted his first Three Choirs Festival in 1967; his well-known and beautiful motet View me, Lord will feature in a Three Choirs Festival evensong this summer, sung by Hereford Cathedral Choir.

Geraint Bowen, Director of Music at the cathedral and Three Choirs Hereford Artistic Director said:

‘Richard’s death will be keenly felt throughout the world of Anglican church music, where he was much-loved and respected for his gifts as a choir-trainer, organist and composer. He was wonderfully generous and supportive of musical activities at the cathedral and we shall miss him greatly.’
