On 1 August, the Festival welcomes Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, travelling over 10,000 miles to perform within the magnificent architecture of Gloucester Cathedral. The 130-voice ensemble, led by Artistic Director Brett Weymark, will present Faire is the Heaven - a programme that celebrates the enduring power of choral music, weaving together the grand traditions of British repertoire with the vibrant voice of modern Australia.

Three Choirs Favourites
The concert blends timeless choral masterworks with a distinctly Australian flavour. Anchored by Sir William Harris' Faire is the Heaven - a setting of Edmund Spenser's 1596 poetry - the programme also features Parry's coronation anthem I Was Glad and Balfour Gardiner's Evening Hymn, alongside other Three Choirs favourites.
An Aussie Treat
The evening's special offering comes in the form of three UK premieres from Australian composers. Joseph Twist contributes two canticles, Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, marked by joyful, buoyant energy and luminous choral textures. Alice Chance brings a more contemplative dimension through her collaboration with Kaylynn Zaro, a custodian of the language and songs of Mer Island. Her two works — the a cappella Adira Arenio and the vivid Sanctus — draw on Mer Island's cultural heritage, honouring the home of the Meriam people and the spirit of the landmark Mabo decision.
