His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester, President of the Three Choirs Festival, and Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester attended a performance of Handel’s Alexander's Feast at Hereford Cathedral. This dramatic and vividly colourful work was performed by the Three Cathedral Choirs (Hereford, Gloucester, and Worcester), and the Musical and Amicable Society, conducted by Hereford Cathedral's Artistic Director, Geraint Bowen. The concert featured soloists Rowan Pierce (soprano), Gwilym Bowen (tenor), and Gareth Brynmor John (baritone). During their visit, Their Royal Highnesses met festival organisers, volunteers, and performers, celebrating the community spirit and high-quality music-making that defines the Three Choirs Festival.

The Three Choirs Festival is the world’s oldest classical music festival, rotating annually between the cathedral cities of Hereford, Gloucester, and Worcester. The 2025 programme features flagship largescale choral concerts in Hereford Cathedral, intimate chamber recitals, laid back late-nights, and a lively family programme, showcasing the power of choral music and making it accessible to all.
This year’s festival opened on Saturday 26 July and continues until Saturday 2 August 2025. Full programme details are available at 3choirs.org.
