Described by Gramophone Magazine as "of silvery voice", tenor David de Winter was born in Surrey and was a chorister at Westminster Cathedral, before studying Music at Durham University and Voice at the Royal Academy of Music. He was a finalist in the 2019 Handel Singing Competition, winning the Selma D and Leon Fischbach Memorial Award. His musical repertoire spans over 900 years, from the 11th Century to the present day. As a soloist, he has performed throughout the UK, Europe & Asia and featured in broadcasts across the BBC & Europe. Recent highlights include Bach Johannes Passion with OAE (Snape Maltings) and in Norwich Cathedral, Hereford Cathedral and the Dora Stouzker Concert Hall (Cardiff); his debuts at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam & Haarlem Philharmonie (Tonkuntst Koor & Concertgebouw Orkest/Boudewijn Jansen) in Bach Matthäus Passion; Handel Esther with Solomon's Knot (Halle Handelfest & Wigmore Hall); Handel Messiah (Norwich & Llandaff Cathedrals); Monteverdi Vespers with Solomon's Knot & Finnish Baroque Orchestra (Helsinki, Cambridge, Wigmore Hall); and Haydn Creation with Norwich Philharmonic Orchestra.
