Born in Carlisle in 1957, David Hill is a celebrated British choral and orchestral conductor and organist. Educated at Chetham's and St John's College, Cambridge, his notable positions include Master of Music at Westminster and Winchester Cathedrals, and Director of Music at St John's. He was Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers (2007-2017) and Principal Conductor of Yale Schola Cantorum (2013-2024). Currently, he is Musical Director of The Bach Choir and Leeds Philharmonic Society, and Associate Guest Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. He has a vast discography and was appointed MBE in 2019 for his services to music.
