Simon started volunteering for Three Choirs in 2020, having long held passionate interests in history and music. His first direct involvement with the festival was organising a fringe event exhibition on its history when he was a county library placement student in the early 1980s. Before retiring in 2021, Simon worked for a few different organisations, mostly in information management roles. He currently sings with Gloucester Choral Society.
