American composer Randall Svane (b.1955) is the next featured composer of our 2023 Gloucester festival.
Svane's distinguished and expressive music has captured the hearts and minds of audiences across the United States and Europe. The New York Philharmonic, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, the Moravian Philharmonic, the Orchestra da Camera Fiorentina, the Borromeo String Quartet, the Munich Chamber Choir, the Leipzig Vocal Ensemble, Santa Fe's Twentieth Century Unlimited, and the Minneapolis Artists Ensemble are just a few of those who have performed Svane's works to critical and public acclaim. Most recently, the choir of Chester Cathedral performed his work 'Teach me your way, O Lord' to much success.

Randall Svane has been active for the past thirty years as an organist, conductor, and teacher. Svane was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He holds a B.M. in organ performance from Manhattan School of Music and an M.A. in composition from New York University.
This year, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the UK premiere of Svane's 'Quantum Flight'. Listen to the Virginia Symphony Orchestra's recording here:
