Edward Byrne has been College Organist and Academic Music Teacher at Marlborough College since September 2025. This role combines the responsibilities of being principal organist and accompanist to the college choirs in chapel services, with teaching Music and Music Technology from Year 9 to Sixth Form.

Ed joined Marlborough after three years as Organ Scholar of Magdalen College, Oxford. Alongside his playing commitments, Ed trained the college choristers and probationers in daily rehearsals, and frequently directed the choirs. Ed was concurrently an undergraduate student reading Music at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with BA (Hons) in 2025. During his time in Oxford, Ed studied with Christian Wilson, David Brookshaw, David Briggs (organ), and Will Dawes (conducting).

Prior to his time in Oxford, Ed spent a year as Organ Scholar at Worcester Cathedral whilst studying organ for a year at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with Daniel Moult, Nicholas Wearne and Visiting Professor Martin Schmeding.

A prize-winning Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, Ed is active as a recitalist having given recent recitals at Westminster Cathedral, Worcester Cathedral and Cheltenham College. As an accompanist recent highlights include performances with The Delius Singers, Deitatis Consort, Arundel Cathedral Choir, Brighton16 and Worthing Philarmonic Orchestra.

Ed is delighted to be performing at the Three Choirs Festival again, after a very enjoyable time singing with the Festival Youth Choir at the Hereford Festival in 2022.
