The Commissioning Circle

The Festival has a rich tradition of commissioning and premiering works by outstanding composers of the time, including Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Elgar’s Light of Life, and Howells’ Hymnus Paradisi, and this tradition continues today thanks to the generous support of the Commissioning Circle.

For 2027, the Commissioning Circle will be supporting the Festival’s first major choral / orchestral commission from our inaugural Associate Composer Gavin Higgins, His Salt Skin, inspired by the Selkie myths of Scotland, Orkney, and the Faroe Islands. We are thrilled that the Three Choirs Festival’s Associate Composer Programme is already enabling a young composer to develop and refine his skills and produce a major new work, cementing the Festival’s commitment to the future of British choral music.

We would love to welcome you as part of the 2027 Commissioning Circle, supporting Gavin's work through your donation. We ask for a minimum donation of £50 to become a member of the Circle.

Support a Concert

Supporting a concert can take many forms, from being the sole person or organisation funding an entire programme to supporting a soloist, ensemble, or piece you love. Concert supporters will be listed on the website and in the brochure and souvenir programme book, invited to launches and receptions, and given priority booking. Since every Festival is different with a new programme and a variety of costs there are no standard amounts for supporting a concert, so please contact Robert Convey to chat about the options.

If you would like to have a chat about how you would be best able to support the Festival, please contact our
Head of Sales and Development, Robert Convey.
