The Commissioning Circle

The Festival has a rich tradition of commissioning and premiering works by outstanding composers of the time, including Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, Elgar’s Light of Life, and Howells’ Hymnus Paradisi, and this tradition continues today thanks to the generous support of the Commissioning Circle.

New for 2026, the Festival is starting a commissioning initiative reflecting its desire to be synonymous with composers who are committed to the future of British choral music.

The first composer linked to our Composer in Association initiative will be RPS award-winning Gavin Higgins from the Forest of Dean, whose beautiful work The Faerie Bride was performed to great acclaim at the 2023 Festival.

The Chair's Circle

Support one of our flagship evening concerts alongside fellow music-lovers. As part of the Chair’s Circle, headed this year by Gloucester Chair Allen Prior, your name will appear on our website and in our brochure and souvenir programme book. You will be invited to the spring programme launch, as well as an exclusive pre-concert reception to thank you for your support. And, of course, you will be given access to that all-important priority booking. Joining the Chair’s Circle requires a minimum donation of £500, which will be used to fund the Mozart Requiem concert at Gloucester 2026.

Support a Concert

Supporting a concert can take many forms, from being the sole person or organisation funding an entire programme to supporting a soloist, ensemble, or piece you love. Concert supporters will be listed on the website and in the brochure and souvenir programme book, invited to launches and receptions, and given priority booking. Since every Festival is different with a new programme and a variety of costs there are no standard amounts for supporting a concert, so please contact Robert Convey to chat about the options.
