Our Vision for the future
Back to LegaciesOur Vision for the future
Our vision is to uphold the festival’s reputation as the world’s leading choral music festival, which includes:
- Building the reputation of the Three Choirs Festival as the art-form festival for choral music – both nationally and internationally.
- Celebrating the heritage and tradition of British choral music whilst allowing room for exploring the new and unexpected.
- Developing our commitment to the future of the art-form through, for instance, our Associate Composer Programme as well as commissioning or co-commissioning new choral works from leading international composers in partnership with others, which can require a lead time of up to 5 years.

- Maintaining our reputation for presenting internationally renowned British orchestras, ensembles, soloists and exceptional choral groups.
- Ensuring the Festival nurtures the next generation of choral/orchestral conductors, choral singers and soloists.
- Celebrating choral liturgy in partnership with our host Cathedrals; our living heritage and one which we will maintain, sustain and develop.

- Utilising emerging technologies to enhance the audience experience.
- Engaging people of all ages and abilities in choral music by developing year-round participative programmes in our three host counties that harness and empower creative and singing talent, encouraging for example, shared singing experiences that will combat the lack of music education in schools as well as social issues such as loneliness and marginalisation.
- Building our investment portfolio to ensure the Festival has a stable, sustainable, economic base from which to deliver and develop its work.
